Soccer season began officially April 2nd of this year and would you believe it, it's almost over already!! The last game is just a few weeks a way and I'm already anxious to get the Fall season underway! Why you ask? Well that question has a simple answer! I've had a tremendously great time coaching this year! On top of all that, Amy has been a great Assistant Coach! I mean she has really been my right hand throughout the entire season. Our other Assistant, Jason, has been to almost every practice, but has only been able to make one game so far this season do to his job. Amy has more than stepped up to the task of being the additional Assistant. Plus, with her experience in Yoga, team warm-ups during practice and before games have been absolutely smooth and very helpful! She is also full of great ideas for new Drills to run for the little tykes as well. Like I said, having her as our second Assistant this season has really been great! And would you believe that she has had such a great time doing it that she will be coaching with me again in the Fall!? Yup, you read that right! I know, as if she doesn't have enough to do during the day with all of the OT and Speech therapies for the kids plus Doctor visits and running the kids back and forth to Pre-school and Tumbling classes as well. With as full as her plate is day to day, I was even surprised she would have agreed to come back and coach in the Fall. At any rate, I'm glad that she has. It's one of the few things that we get to do with the girls together.
Zack will be doing something amazing as well this Summer! Zack has agreed to go to a 6 month camp down in Knightstown, IN, just thirty miles East of Indianapolis to try and better himself. The name of the camp is called Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe Academy and is completely run by the State and free to Indiana residents. It's main sponsor is the Indiana National Guard. Zack will be away at this camp from July 16th through December 17th. He will be schooled there and taught some very valuable Life Lessons as well as going through a vigorous Anger Management class. Once back from the Academy, Zack will be mentored by a local volunteer for one year to make sure he gets through all of his tasks, including getting his GED and getting set up with a College! As good as this news is, and as happy as I am that he has made the choice to do this, I'm also saddened that he will be MIA from family events for at least 6 months. But that sadness is overcome by the joy that I feel because he has made a choice to start becoming a better person and take control of his life. Something Amy and I have long been waiting for him to do. So, please help us in wishing Zack good luck on his endeavor to becoming everything that he can be and what we all know he can be! He needs all the encouragement we can give him and needs to know that our whole family is there for him and standing beside him all the way on his adventure!
Well, that's about it for now! I'm hoping that once Spring Soccer is finished, I'll have a little more time to update things here. I'll keep you posted!
