So, got a call from Zack yesterday. He's still doing well down at the HYCA, but he did get himself into a little bit of trouble with his mouth. Seems he let it overload his but one too many times and he got a little extra clean up time added to what he normally has to do. I told him to just chalk it up to experience and move on. He still sounded very good and very positive. I'm proud that he has taken on this "I Can Do Anything" attitude for once. Much better than the old Zack who spent most of his time thinking that he couldn't really do anything! Makes me think that much more that my decision to send him down there was the right thing to do. He's actually taking responsibility for his actions now. This is a good thing! He has also tested very well to be able to start three out of the four GED classes he needs! Yeah! He's struggling a little with Math, but they are working really hard with him on that. Overall, he's doing pretty good down there and we couldn't be more proud!
Someone else we all need to be proud of are the girls! That's right! Last Friday was their first full day of Kindergarten! I had heard from an insider at the school that they had done very well on their first day! I know that they were doing pretty good before Amy and I left them. They have a great Teacher also. Mrs. Zacher has been teaching for the last 12 years at that school and has seen it all. Yet, she's young enough to be able to keep up with Charity and all of her energy! Charity needs someone to be able to keep up with her. Go to my Facebook page, if you haven't already, to see some of the pictures we took of the girls first day! Of coarse we couldn't stay all day. At some point we had to let them enjoy their first day of school without us! We did stay for about twenty minutes to make sure they got settled in good. Then it was time to leave and wait for the little girlies to come home!
OMG! It seemed like forever waiting for them to get home! They took the bus home, which was their first ever bus ride. They loved it! On the way home is the only time they will be taking the ol' "Cheese Wagon" home... unless something happens where they need to ride in the morning. But mornings are reserved for Mommy to take them to school. Besides, them riding the bus to school was never an option. The way the route works, they would have been one of the first group of kids getting picked up which would have made for a very long bus ride to school in the morning. 45 minutes to be exact, as opposed to the short 10 minute ride home because they are one of the first dropped off. So we opted just to have them ride the bus home. They did very well with that also! We are so proud of our little Kindergartners! To celebrate them getting through the first day of school, we had a few surprises planned for them! We had gotten them "The Smurfs Dance Party" game which is made by the people who brought you the "Just Dance" games for Wii and Xbox. They loved it! Plus a bunch of other goodies to help make their first day of school a hit! Overall, the girls really seemed to enjoy their first day and can't wait to get back to school for more! Yup, our little girls are growin' up.
Till next time gang!
